Aquatech Amsterdam 2006 featured the following conferences:
Innovations in coping with water and climate related risks
Biofilm Systems VI
The Seventh International Symposium on Waste Management Problems in Agro-Industries
Innovations in coping with water and climate related risks
25 - 27 September 2006
Organisers: International Water Association (IWA) in co-operation with the Netherlands Association on Water Management (NVA) and Aquatech Amsterdam 2006.
Springs and autumns in The Netherlands and Europe are expected to become wetter; summers will be hotter and dryer. Extreme events including storms, floods and droughts will occur more often. Such changes in the hydrological cycle pose new challenges and risks for water managers.
Development in the fields of assessments, forecasting, communication, planning and implementation are very fast indeed. At the same time opportunities to learn about these developments are scant.
This conference provides such an opportunity for internationally sharing of knowledge and experiences between scientists, practitioners, administrators, managers and other interested people.

Biofilm Systems VI
24 - 27 September 2006
Organisers: International Water Association (IWA) in co-operation with the Netherlands Association on Water Management (NVA) and Aquatech Amsterdam 2006
In september 2006 the sixth IWA conference on Biofilm Systems will be held in Amsterdam. This conference aims to bring together scientists and practitioners involved in areas where biofilms play a major role. This covers biofilm reactors, biofilm processes in biofilm reactors or natural systems, biofouling and biocorrosion.
The emphasis will be on dissemination of processes, learning from case studies and about technological innovations.

The Seventh International Symposium on Waste Management Problems in Agro-Industries
27 - 29 September 2006
Organisers: International Water Association (IWA) in co-operation with the Netherlands Association on Water Management (NVA), Turkish National Committee on Water Pollution Research and Control (SKATMK) and Aquatech Amsterdam 2006.
This symposium will be the 7th of a series of scientific events organised under the same umbrella. Management of wastes from agro-industries was first addressed in an international symposium in 'First International Symposium on Waste Management Problems in Agro-Industries' held in Istanbul, Turkey in 1989. The success of the events with the interest and high quality contribution of participants all over the word, established a series of IWA symposia.
The increasing pace of complex environmental problems caused by numbers of agro-industries, including textile, pulp and paper, leather, food, pesticides, brewery, etc, necessitates urgent and effective solution based upon available scientific information and engineering experience. Sewage treatment in rural area and run-off pollutants from agricultural areas also deserve scientific solutions.
