“The importance of water technology for the complex
problems of our world are eminent,” according to Cees Buisman (Wetsus), chairman
of the Jury of the Award.
“The availability of clean water for everyone in the world is a key element to the
economic, social and physical wellbeing of mankind. The number of people
challenged with water scarcity will increase enormously the coming years. Unlike oil,
mankind has no alternative for water. Therefore, water is a subject that more than
any other requires constant advances in the development of knowledge and
technology. The challenge is to ensure that our ability to implement keeps pace with
these advances. The Innovation Award encourages the companies participating in
Aquatech Amsterdam to continue to be creative in this respect.”
