Organised by the International Water Association (IWA) in co-operation with the Royal Netherlands Waternetwork and Aquatech 2008
Description:
The conference objectives are to advance knowledge and experience in the area of design and operation of membrane plants for treatment of drinking and industrial water and waste water.
Practical case studies and results of research projects will be presented with focus on techno-economical aspects of design and operation. The conference aims to develop and encourage international cooperation towards optimal membrane performance, cost reduction, energy consumption, process integration, waste production , importance of pretreatment. It will support operational research efforts and management modelling of membrane systems. Research needs will be identified and an international technology transfer process related to membrane application for improvement of water and waste water treatment processes in relation to regulations will be developed.
Scope and topics:
This conference will provide a forum for the discussion on topics related to design and operation of membrane systems for drinking and industrial water and waste water. Recent experience and advances with emphasis on the following topics will provide operators, engineers and designers and managers new insights in this important field of environmental and water management:
- Practical case studies
- Membrane fouling and cleaning
- Minimizing energy consumption
- Minimizing environmental impact and costs
- Pre-treatment
- System selection and integration
- Membrane life time
- Maintenance
- Alternative use of membranes in water systems
- Process engineering aspects
